ZAQ's actuarial damages team has more than 20 years of combined experience in damages work.

Our focus is on helping our clients navigate complex damages calculations related to Road Accident Fund claims, medical negligence claims, personal injury claims, divorce maintenance, and deceased estate maintenance. We have a deep understanding of South African law and regulations and understand that these legal matters can be stressful and overwhelming, which is why we strive to make the calculation process as clear and simple as possible. Whether you're a lawyer, a business owner, or an individual seeking damages compensation, we are here to help.

Loss of earnings and loss of support

Loss of earnings refers to the financial loss an individual experiences, due to their inability to work and earn because of an injury. Loss of support, on the other hand, is a form of compensation for dependents or family members of a deceased person who provided financial support to them.

Most of our calculations are a result of medical negligence, personal injury, wrongful dismissal, or motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) against the Road Accident Fund (RAF) where special consideration for the RAF cap is applied.

Divorce maintenance

Divorce is never an easy process, and often the best action is a clean break settling the future maintenance required rather than trying to claim maintenance each month for the remainder of your life. We make sure that your maintenance is quantified with respect to the Maintenance Act 99 of 1998.

Deceased estate maintenance

Finalising a loved one’s estate can often be complicated and in some cases can lead to disputes among family members. The actuary is here to assist from an unbiased perspective, applying the ruling as per The Maintenance of Surviving Spouse’s act, to ensure that the surviving spouse and her children are financially supported.
